The problem described by HIVE-19316 is the same as the one I encountered. Has this bug (HIVE-19316) been resolved in version 3.1.2 of hive? Do I still need to incorporate the patch myself?

Hey,
Seems like you are hitting https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-19316, it seems to be marked as fixed.
Can you please check if there is a mismatch in the data you are inserting and the HIVE columns ?
Can you please give more details about your configuration and the DMLs you are firing ?
