[jira] [Commented] (ZOOKEEPER-4221) Improve the error message when
message goes above jute.maxbufer size
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ZOOKEEPER-4221?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=17289852#comment-17289852 ]
Mate Szalay-Beko commented on ZOOKEEPER-4221:
---------------------------------------------
the Len error not necessarily means jute.maxbuffer size problem. If ZooKeeper gets a "malformed" message (not even a jute message), then the first few bytes (encoding "len") can be anything. Maybe an error message like this one would make more sense:
"Len error, the first few bytes of the message contains invalid value: 1048648. This is either a message too large to process (see parameter jute.maxbuffer.size) or this is a malformed message."

> When I hit the jute.maxbuffer size, I get a pretty bland error message that doesn't help me much.
> {quote}java.io.IOException: Len error 1048648
> {quote}
> It would be helpful to get more information about the command that produced the error, the client that executed the command, etc...
