---------------------------------

Summary: Slow searches, is indexing a solution here?
                 Key: DIRSERVER-2339
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DIRSERVER-2339
             Project: Directory ApacheDS
          Issue Type: Bug
            Reporter: Mayank

Hello Emmanuel,

Am on apacheds-2.0.0.AM26 version.

The searches are taking as much as 15-20 odd seconds or more if multiple users are trying to access. I increased JVM memory, but that dont solve the problem. Can creating an index solve the problem? Could you provide a good article on how can I create index for custom attribute.

I tried creating an index through Directory Studio by adding the attribute on the partition, but after that the search has started giving 0 results. If I delete the index that I created, the search starts working. May be am not creating the index the right way. Could you please help suggest how this problem can be solved?

Search -

DN - cn=mayabans,dc=ks-siebel,dc=com

Filter - (|(cn=mayabans)(objectClass=referral))

Thanks and regards,

Mayank
