Combi-delta-nation. And then some.
Just a quick note to the list to make you all aware that yesterday I
begun the self-serving-yet-communally-beneficial task of implementing
a delta combiner. I started with a test case, and am now beginning
implementation. Just wanted to let others know in case someone else
is already doing the task, or was planning to do so. I have no
estimated completion time, as I'm kinda doing this outside my typical
role as a CollabNet-employed Subversion developer with Greg Stein
breathing down my back (KIDDING! Greg is a wonderful manager, and a
pleasure to work for/with).
Anyways, enough about me. I wanna hear about you. What amazing
programmatic incantations can we expect to be muttered in the coming
days? Anybody doing anything exciting or especially useful to
Subversion? Also, I'd like to underscore the sigh of relief that Karl
and I shared knowing that, as far as we could tell, we were more or
less up to date with patch review. Please, committers, help us
continue our trend of rapid response/integration when the next deluge
of patches hits.
I'm having a good time in this, my first taste of the open source
programming world. Hope you all are, too.
Luv,
C-Mike (feeling especially cheesy this morning for some reason)

Oooooooooooooh. Ben just gave me a clue. I thought "sent out a beta"
meant you had mailed in a "beta" version of your delta combiner to our
list and I'd missed it! Now, I see that this beta must have been
related to the day-job, which you are up to your ears in, and which
has recently granted you a long weekend. *Zoinks!* Sorry 'bout the
misunderstanding.

I /started/ on it long ago, but ... never mind. Priorities change.

So did I. ;-)

Did this beta get sent to the dev-list?! How did I miss that? Please
post an archive URL! :-)

I'll trust you, because I have no reason not to. I was just tired of
answering filesystem performance concerns with *any* sentence that
includes the phrase "delta combiner" when I had (until now) no real
reason to believe such a fantastical creature would ever really exist.
Thanks for starting on this work, though, and I look forward to
reviewing your work.

Huh. I thought /I/ was writing the delta combiner. Sure, it's taking a
lot of time, mainly because I've been in up to my ears on my day job,
but it's getting there. I sent out a beta two days ago, *and* I have a
long week-end ... guess what I'm doing right now? :-)
Seriously: If you can wait another week, you'll only have to debug the
combiner, not write one. :-)

Well, i'm bouncing around (being severely ADHD, it's what i do best),
finding and fixing misc things, and gathering statistics on logs and
caches.

Oh, useful.
I'm out of the running then.
:)
