Turning off a running broker

Hello,

We're looking to shut down a broker that we no longer need, however we wish to do so without losing any messages.  My current thought in 0.7 is to shutdown the producers, let the consumers finish, shut down the broker, then start the producers back up.  Is there another way to do this as we don't have control over all of the producers/consumers?

Also, in 0.8, how would you do this?  My impression is that if replication is set up correctly, we should be able to simply shut down the broker.
