newbie question: Can't access http://localhost:8080/webdav as webfolder or through WebDAV
Hi,
I have just started using Jakarta Slide. I have installed "Slide 2.0
with Tomcat 5.0" release build
I am able to get the page http://localhost:8080/webdav/index.html to show up.
But can't get the http://localhost:8080/webdav to open either as a
webfolder or through the slide-client.
I am able to configure and use moddav location as a webfolder, so
webfolders are working on my machine.
Is there anything else to be done to get WebDAV to work with Slide?
Should I need to configure something or use another URL?

You are great!
I download the visio 2003 and it upgraded my MSDAIPP.DLL to version
11.0.5510.0 and there it is, slide started working with IE
webfolders!!!

To upgrade the dll you may be able to use any *2003 product. I used
Visio 2003, for instance. I've heard mentions of a Sharepoint client
download. If you can find something like that on Microsoft's site it may
contain an upgrade as well. Once you have a newer .dll it's really easy
to distribute. I made a self-extracting zip with a batch file that
registers the new .dll. Works well for users on our intranet.
As for making the root context webdav enabled, you should be able to
mount Slide as the root webapp. If you're using the Slide/Tomcat bundle
edit conf/server.xml and set path="" for the Slide <Context> node. If
you're using the webapp bin just renaming the slide folder to ROOT

Thanks for your prompt help James. I should have read the
configuration section carefully before asking the question :-(
I am able to connect to http://localhost:8080/slide/ in slide client,
DavExplorer but can't use the same URL in Open as WebFolder in IE and
Explorer. (I am using Windows 2000 Professional and IE 6.0)
Is this a known problem or can I do something to get it to work?

http://localhost:8080/webdav is the webdav webapp that ships with
Tomcat. In order to access Slide you need to point your client at
http://localhost:8080/slide/. Note the trailing "/", it won't work
without it.
