That doesn't make sense to me. I have been using Java 8 with Ant 1.8.4 in the EC2 instances I have been using. The JRE doesn't usually break compatibility very badly with old jars.

That's how I found out everything was broken and developed the fixes. We also have tests running in cassci that ran fine before and stopped working due to the original set of changes.
