[jira] Created: (MNG-4185) Nothing should ever be "Deprecated."

Nothing should ever be "Deprecated."
-------------------------------------

                 Key: MNG-4185
                 URL: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MNG-4185
             Project: Maven 2
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: Documentation: General
    Affects Versions: 2.1.0
         Environment: Irrelevant.
            Reporter: Hendrik Groeneveld
            Priority: Blocker

Saying something is "Deprecated." is not acceptable. In my particular case, I'm looking at the archetype plugin trying to create a new project but "mvn help:describe -Dplugin=archetype" says that all of the goals are "Deprecated. No reason given" "Deprecated, see xxx" would be perfectly acceptable but just "Deprecated." is a major problem as I have no idea where to go next and am totally blocked.

[jira] Updated: (ARCHETYPE-245) Provide reason for deprecation and suggest replacement

Wendy Smoak updated ARCHETYPE-245:
----------------------------------

    Priority: Minor (was: Blocker)
Summary: Provide reason for deprecation and suggest replacement (was: Nothing should ever be "Deprecated." )

If *all* of the goals are showing deprecated, it's probably a bug in the help plugin.

They aren't all deprecated when I run it, so I'm moving this to Archetype to
 - provide reason for deprecation
 - suggest a replacement goal to use if possible
