[jira] [Commented] (ZOOKEEPER-3922) Add support for two server ZooKeeper with hardware oracle

Pramod Srinivasan commented on ZOOKEEPER-3922:
----------------------------------------------

Thanks for adding support for two server ZooKeeper with hardware oracle. This feature will be very useful for us in Juniper Networks. We can run upto 2 instances of Zookeeper on most of the systems we build and we have hardware support to break ties (oracle). Having this support lets us deploy Zookeeper on the systems we build and help us recover when one of the Zookeeper instances goes down. Having a mechanism to support  2 server ensemble where 1 failure is tolerable can open up newer deployment scenarios in Juniper or otherwise

> Currently, we cannot really have ZooKeeper ensembles of size less than 3 and still tolerate failures. However, with hardware support for failure detection, we could support a 2 server ensemble and still tolerate the failure of one machine.
