[jira] [Created] (HBASE-28253) HBCK2 filesystem command to fix version file fails when Master in not up
Robin Roy created HBASE-28253:
---------------------------------
Summary: HBCK2 filesystem command to fix version file fails when Master in not up
Key: HBASE-28253
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-28253
Project: HBase
Issue Type: Bug
Components: hbase-operator-tools
Affects Versions: hbase-operator-tools-1.2.0, hbase-operator-tools-1.3.0
Reporter: Robin Roy
Assignee: Robin Roy
Recently while fixing an issue for a customer, I observed that the hbase master keeps restarting because of missing hbase version file. When trying to fix the issue using the hbck2 filesystem -f command, it kept trying to connect to the hbase master as a pre-check for supported hbase versions, but as the master was not up, the command never progressed beyond the connection creation step. It seems unnecessary to check supported versions in filesystem command as it is all offline checks.
