Re: [jira] Commented: (TUSCANY-2268) Exceptions errors on binding toexternal web services

Hi,

I want to thank all of you very much for your kindness and patience;
I apologize for the time you spent due to stupid inattention errors I
have made (e.g. of course, sayHello must return a String :=) ). Now
it works fine using the binding.ws with wdslElement.

However, I must notice you that it does not work when using
binding.ws with the URI (see the exception below).
It would be great to correct it or at least mention that fact to users.
I get the same exception as before - say:

Re: [jira] Commented: (TUSCANY-2268) Exceptions errors on binding toexternal web services

Posted by ant elder <an...@gmail.com>.
Its good you got it working.

I'm still not sure what you mean about the uri attribute not working? The
uri attribute does work to change the actual endpoint used but you still
need to reference the wsdl somewhere so the binding is correctly configured
for the service. For example the following works by pointing to the wsdl
binding instead of the port, and you could change the value of the uri so
the invocation goes to a different endpoint:

<binding.ws wsdlElement="http://tempuri.org/#wsdl.binding(HelloWorldSoap)"
uri="http://159.217.144.79/webservices/HelloWorld.asmx"/>

Note that when <binding.ws> refers to a wsdl port then the endpoint in the
wsdl port takes precedence over the uri attribute. So with the following:

<binding.ws wsdlElement="
http://tempuri.org/#wsdl.port(HelloWorld/HelloWorldSoap)" uri="
http://159.217.144.79/webservices/HelloWorld.asmx"/>

the uri value is silently ignored. I've always found a little misleading but
its how the SCA WS binding specification says it should be.

Does that help?
