Build Failed
I checked out the modules from http://avalon.apache.org/merlin/starting/installation/3.0/index.html using cvs.
While building by using "maven avalon:install" command its giving following error
BUILD FAILED
File...... file:/C:/avalon/merlin/
Element... maven:reactor
Line...... 91
Column.... 31
Unable to obtain goal [java:prepare-filesystem] -- file:/C:/avalon/merlin/kernel/impl/:10:

The CVS HEAD version is 3.3 but the procedures you referenced above are
for 3.0. Please take a look at the 3.2 build instructions at:
http://avalon.apache.org/merlin/starting/installation/3.2/cvs.html
Which basically translate to:
$ cd avalon\util
$ maven
$ cd ..\meta
$ maven
$ cd ..\repository
$ maven
$ cd ..\merlin
$ maven
In the meantime I'm going to update the docs so that the CVS build
instructions only deal with CVS HEAD.
Just for reference - my guess is that you don't have the avalon-plugin
installed (which is only needed if your building from cvs and will be
automatically installed when you build the util package from cvs).
