Service name attribute causing hassle.

Hi folks,
        The name attribute of my portType and the type attribute of my
binding elements are the same,
however if the name attribute of the service element is different to
these then I get a 
PortType not available error. 
 
Is this correct in WSDL? Shouldn't the processor use the service
element's name attribute to locate the 
binding and then in turn the PortType available??
