svn co error

Hi folks,

trying to do a svn co http://my.svserver.here/svn/project1, I keep 
getting an error that looks like this:

svn: REPORT request failed on '/svn/project1/!svn/vcc/default'
svn: REPORT of '/svn/project1/!svn/vcc/default': 400 Bad Request 
(http://my.svnserver.here)

I'm using subversion 1.0.0, with Suse 9.0, and I'm not behind a proxy.
Checkout using the svn protocol on the same project works fine, and 
directory listing is fine as well.

Any suggestions?
