I think I know why you're sending this? It's because of that whole,
non-subscribers posting to the list thing. correct. But even so, I really
wasn't confused until today.

RE: Moderation Rejection Experiment

What happened with the previous post: The message that was intended to be rejected was accidently accept by a moderators. Since it was written on the assumption that only moderators would see it, its appearance on the list is confusing. Sorry about that.

The next effort was properly rejected and the moderators now know the answer to that age-old question about a tree falling in the forest.

Here is what a rejection message looks like. The original message was returned as an attachment (not shown). The message at the bottom was entered by the moderator and included in the rejection the list robot sent out:

I'm sorry, your message (enclosed) was not accepted by the moderator.

RE: Moderation Rejection Experiment

Posted by "Dennis E. Hamilton" <de...@acm.org>.
My apologies.

The original "Moderation Rejection Experiment" message was not intended to be received by the list. It was for an experiment in the private interactions between the list robot and the moderators. The idea was for a moderator to reject it so the moderators could then see for themselves what the resulting rejection message from the list robot looks like.

The message leaked onto the list by a moderator actually approving it, rather than rejecting it first.

It is meaningless for users of the list to follow those instructions and to keep replying to the thread. It might be weirdly amusing, but it has no effect other than adding noise to this list.

I apologize for the confusion.

 - Dennis
