default Writer save format

So simple, I am sure, but . . . . How does one change the default save format in Writer from .odt?

It is best not to; work in .odt and save out to other formats only when needed. Working in other formats offers severe risk of file loss if a computer or program crash. Better chance of recovery using .odt.

I'm using spanish interface so maybe translation to english is not exact.
Go to "Tools" > "Options" > "Load /Save" > "General"
Under "Always save as" select the format you prefer.
