[Issue 126636] New: RTF not rendered correct
https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=126636
Issue ID: 126636
Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: RTF not rendered correct
Product: Writer
Version: 4.1.2
Hardware: All
OS: Windows 7
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P5
Component: open-import
Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org
Reporter: pcloutier@progenygenealogy.com
Created attachment 85117

RTF file with boxes & graphics
Open Office is not able to display the attached RFT file correctly. The RTF is
generated by my app, not MS Word.
Open Office can display the colored boxes, but does not render the connecting
lines, and the text.
See also attached PDF showing how MS Word displays it.
What can I change in my app to be compatible with Open Office Writer?

--- Comment #3 from Mikhail <mw...@my.fit.edu> ---
I was not able to replicate this issue.
However I was however, able to observe the issue
with the RTF provided by Pierre by doing the the following.
1. Download Pierre’s RTF attachment
2. Open it with OpenOffice writer 4.1.2.
3. Observe that the text inside the boxes are not visible,
and that there are no lines connecting the boxes . (fig_1.0)
Here are my attempts at replication:
Configuration
Tested on Windows 10 laptop PC 64-bit,
with 8GB of RAM, and a i7 -4500 CPU @ 1.80GHz
Open Office Build Info:
Apache OpenOffice 4.1.2
AOO412m3(Build:9782) - Rev. 1709696
2016-02-28 09:53:29 (Sun, 28 Feb 2016)
Test 1
I tried to replicate Pierre’s document
using Microsoft Word (2010) Version 14.0.4734.1000 (32-bit).
1. Create a new Microsoft word document.
2. On the Menu bar go to Insert > Text Box
> (on the lower left) Draw Text Box. (fig_1.1)
3. Use the mouse cursor to draw a box
4. In the drawing tools menu select Shape
Fill and use a color of your choice (fig_1.2)
5. Type some text inside the box. (Pierre used
the Times New Roman font at size 9)
6. Repeat steps 2 through 5 to create a second Text Box .
7. Connect both boxes by adding a straight line between them.
-Insert > Shapes > Lines > Line (fig_1.3) (fig_1.4)
8. Save the file in Rich Text Format (*.rtf).I named mine (file_2)
Close Microsoft Word
9. Open newly saved rtf file (file_2) in OpenOffice 4.1.2
Observation:
Open office rendered the shapes, line, color and text correctly
(There was however an issue with where the boxes and line were
positioned on the page) see (fig _2.1)
Test 2
1. I downloaded Pierre’s RFT document and
opened it in Microsoft Word.
2. I then saved it as an RTF but under a
different file name (file_3).
3. After closing Word I opened the newly
saved RTF file (file_3) in OpenOffice
and it displayed all the lines and text see (fig_3.1).
It had the same issue as before with the whole chart being displayed off
center.
Test 3
1. I opened Pierre’s RFT document this time using OpenOffice
and as expected no text or lines were observed (fig_4.1).
2. I then saved the file as an RTF under a new document name (file_4).
3. I closed OpenOffice and then reopened the newly saved RTF file
(file_4) in OpenOffice and it now displayed only one line of text. (fig_4.2)

Was able to replicate the issue. Opened in MS Word 2010 Win 7 and displayed the
correct template, Writer was not displaying any of the text boxes, or the
connecting lines.
