AOO4 General videos
JUST A PREVIEW -
So from the other day I thought to just take the firrst page from the 'Why
AOO' web page as a script.
Doing that I can get one paragraph into an appx 30 seconds.
I have Five different , original, graphic combinations. I figured Five vids.
The web page gives Four paragraphs of text.
Any suggestions on a Fifth.
I plan to use the same opening graphic for each - Take a second look at AOO
4 - might be a good title for that, and I think also a good start to the
Fifth text copy.
I can finish what a I have, as Four vids, in a full day I think.
Will hold off on this till Saturday after work, to give a day for your
feedback here.

Credo che il temine giusto in italiano dovrebbe essere "videoscrittura",
che ha una accezione più ampia di "elaborazione testi".
Ma forse sì, questo sembra un po' obsoleto :-)

Direi che le traduzioni italiane possono essere le seguenti:
word processing = videoscrittura o elaborazione dei testi
spreadsheet = foglio elettronico
software engineering = Ingegneria del software

Nel mio ruolo di traduttore KDE (e osservatore di passaggio da queste parti)
faccio notare che videoscrittura viene usato nella documentazione (in
Calligra e altrove).
Non mi sembra affatto un termine desueto (come indicato in un'altra risposta).
È ampiamente usato anche nel linguaggio istuzionale.
Ovviamente se come traduttori iniziamo a non usarlo più, beh, ovvio che
sparisce... IMHO.

Per il primo possiamo sicuramente usare "elaborazione testi" o
"videoscrittura" come avete gia' suggerito, ma c'e' da dire che "word
processing", per l'assonanza con Microsoft Word, fa capire meglio al
"grande pubblico" di cosa stiamo parlando.
"Ingegneria del software" sembra un po' la denominazione di un corso
universitario. Nel nostro caso possiamo sicuramente sentirci liberi di
usare una traduzione non letterale e scrivere "Apache OpenOffice è il
risultato di oltre venti anni di sviluppo professionale", il concetto e'
quello.

Andrea,
le traduzioni mi sembrano perfette. Un'unica cosa (ma è più un dubbio
personale che una segnalazione): non esistono traduzioni italiane
comunemente usata di "word processing"e "software engineering"? Per
"software engineering" così su due piedi non mi viene in mente nulla
("ingegneria informatica" credo sia una cosa diversa... "Ingegneria dei
software" mi lascia perplessa), ma "elaborazione testi" al posto di "word
processing" sembrerebbe davvero così obsoleto?
Stavo proprio per chiederti dove trovare i video e se esistevano dei file
di sottotitoli perché quelli ovviamente facilitano di molto il lavoro ;-)

Scusate ma non ho avuto modo di leggere le altre traduzioni. Per quanto
riguarda la questione voice-over/sottotitoli, penso che se si trova
qualcuno disponibile a registrare l'audio è ovviamente meglio (purtroppo io
non ho l'hardware necessario); se però saremo costretti a ripiegare sui
sottotitoli, fatemi sapere, così mi occupo dell'adattamento delle
traduzioni, visto che ho un po' di esperienza nel settore.

Servono 5 brevi traduzioni per altrettanti brevi video (30 secondi) su
OpenOffice. Trovate i testi inglesi qui sotto (e, se siete interessati a
tutta la discussione, la trovate sulla lista dev in inglese). Se
qualcuno ha tempo, basta inviare qui in lista i testi tradotti, via
e-mail, senza allegati.
Inoltre sarebbe bello che qualcuno desse la disponibilita' a leggere ad
alta voce i testi cosi' tradotti, in modo da avere il video con audio
completamente in italiano senza usare sottotitoli. Eventuali volontari

title of the last one?).
The texts seem really to the point. I've asked the Italian mailing list
for a translation, and I'll let you have it when we are done. So far we
are working on the text only, but if a volunteer shows up we could go
for a fully dubbed version.

way to request assistance. Please send a copy of a bounce message to

I think I might need a memory refresher on this. Was the idea to provide a
variety of short videos, and one would be randomly selected for
presentation to the user? Is this why five are being created?

About the wallpaper files, it looks like I sent one of the early
iterations of the Jack-o-lantern piece. I figure instead of sending along
the final here, instead I will check G+ for a time Halloween is trending
and share it at the AOO community page.
