[jira] [Created] (AIRAVATA-1861) Support JSDL parameter sweep extension

Shahbaz Memon created AIRAVATA-1861:
---------------------------------------

Summary: Support JSDL parameter sweep extension
                 Key: AIRAVATA-1861
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AIRAVATA-1861
             Project: Airavata
          Issue Type: Improvement
Components: Airavata API, Application Catalog, GFac
            Reporter: Shahbaz Memon

This is a new feature which will realize the JSDL Parameter Sweep specification (http://www.ogf.org/documents/GFD.149.pdf). Note that the implementation will just need to take application requirement phase (e.g. user input from PGA) in a parametric way and transform it to the JSDL instance, but it should be compliant with the given specification.

This feature will help users to run data intensive computing jobs of iterative and composite nature. The resultant job of the JSDL request will not be a workflow rather a single job and application, but with many runs of that application with varying arguments, environment vars, file names etc. The applications can be found in multiple domains, specially data processing through clustering and classification algorithms on high performance computing resources.
