I think the comments in https://sparkr.atlassian.net/browse/SPARKR-230 are useful. For MapType we will need to support deserializing maps with string keys to `env`. If there are maps with other keys we can do one of two things on the Scala side (a) use toString to convert key to string (b) print an error saying maps with non-string keys are not supported
