Struts test case...

I am looking through the example tests in the SRC dist, but am wondering if there is a better description of the various SRC files?

Ex.
In strutsTest\src\servletunit\struts\tests\cactus what are these various test actually for. They seem to be low level test for various struts components, but I thought that the MockTestCase was for that.

Not only that, why is it under the servletunit\struts DIR? I see several versions of the BASE TestCase's for different versions of Struts. 

Plus I see patches. What am I suppose to do...Apply them? or are they for reference?
