Here is an overview of the issue:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
        Key: MPJNLP-6
Summary: updated jarversions support to take SNAPSHOT jars into account
       Type: Improvement

     Status: Open
   Priority: Major

 Original Estimate: Unknown
 Time Spent: Unknown
  Remaining: Unknown

    Project: maven-jnlp-plugin

   Assignee: Emmanuel Venisse
   Reporter: Leif Nelson

    Created: Wed, 4 Feb 2004 5:23 PM
    Updated: Wed, 4 Feb 2004 5:24 PM

Description:
If usejarversions is set to true, the plugin will generate a "version" tag in the jnlp file for each jar file. Now, with this patch, if the version of a dependency contains the string "SNAPSHOT" then, the version will NOT be attached in the jnlp file, allowing the timestamp support to apply. This is useful, when using SNAPSHOT jars, so that whenever the snapshot version changes, this will be propagated all the way through to the JWS client.
