Critical Xalan 2.3.X Error in testing...

Transformations using stylesheets that worked fine with 2.2 and 2.3.1 fail
in recent builds of Xalan.  The exception is:

Error Transforming XML Document: javax.xml.transform.TransformerException:
java.lang.RuntimeException: Programmer assertion is incorrect! -
setShouldCacheNodes not supported by this iterater!

The stylesheet in question does a lot with extension functions, including
passing NodeLists and DTF's back and forth, if that is any help...

Any thoughts?
