[jira] Created: (INFRA-1630) Continuum web interface very slow; sometimes unusably so

Continuum web interface very slow; sometimes unusably so
--------------------------------------------------------

                 Key: INFRA-1630
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-1630
             Project: Infrastructure
          Issue Type: Bug
      Security Level: public (Regular issues)
          Components: Continuum
            Reporter: Sebb

The Continuum web interface is really, really slow most of the time.

Some operations are OK - e.g. Cancel can be quick - but most operations are really slow.
Sometimes it can take nearly a minute to display a new screen.

Can anything be done about this?

e.g. increase the priority of the interactive processes relative to the batch builds?

-------------------------------------

it's a known issue in Continuum on the group summary. There are also peaks and troughs in performance in general depending on what is building, and how much resources the VM itself is getting.

ensuring the webapp has the top priority is a good idea though - do you know the best way to do that (other than nice'ing the builds?)

whenever that has happened recently, Sling was building. I'm going to investigate.

Sorry, no idea how, but being nice to the builds (!) sounds like it might be worth a try.

[BTW Continuum seems to have just given up the fight - as can be seen from Nagios...]
