RememberMe implementation

Hi,

I am trying to build a standalone RememberMe service. I have looked at
CookieRememberMeManager, DefaultWebSecurityManager and
AbstractRememberMeManager.
But I am not clear on how I can implement it in a non-web environment.
Please help.

By stand alone I meant a service e.g. a web service that provides
"RememberMe" API.
