Upgrading to Lucene 5.0.0 was not trivial but I managed to updrade to Lucene 4.10.3 with passing build and tests https://github.com/frankscholten/mahout/commit/aaaa61c918336848fb3c6797f947cd336863f8be

lucene2seq has to be tested on a Hadoop cluster
