[jira] [Commented] (GUACAMOLE-1343) Print directly to a local printer

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/GUACAMOLE-1343?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=17341853#comment-17341853 ]

Nick Couchman commented on GUACAMOLE-1343:
------------------------------------------

This has been requested a couple of different times, and it isn't possible to do given the available browser support today. The issue is not getting the print job from the remote server to guacd, the issue is generating a seamless print job on the end user's browser. This kind of functionality used to be provided in browsers using either Java or Flash plugins, but given that we have intentionally avoided plugins, that most browsers have completely removed plugin support, and that browsers do not currently provide a way to access printers directly, this just isn't possible.

I believe that, until the browser provides a more direct API for dealing with local printers, you'll have to live with the current state of things.

> We have been using Guacamole in our organization for a very long time and we simply love it! However, one of the features all the users want is to be able to print directly to their local printers instead of downloading it as a PDF first and then printing it.
> Maybe we can have a Universal Printer Driver running on the server which takes the print command from the remote machine and redirects to the default printer of the user's local machine.
