[jira] [Created] (OAK-2204) Support for changing the precision used for storing the date values

Chetan Mehrotra created OAK-2204:
------------------------------------

Summary: Support for changing the precision used for storing the date values
                 Key: OAK-2204
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OAK-2204
             Project: Jackrabbit Oak
          Issue Type: Sub-task
          Components: oak-lucene
            Reporter: Chetan Mehrotra
            Assignee: Chetan Mehrotra
            Priority: Minor
             Fix For: 1.2

Date values in JCR are stored as milliseconds. In many case it would be ok to save the value with lower precision thus reducing the storage cost

Before exposing this option we need to benchmark the space gain made by loosing the precision
