Yes its in progress. Thilina is doing that.

Axis 2 will only support MTOM.

Well since WSS4J requirs W3C DOM which is not there
yet in OM, it won't work for now. However, a "shim"
DOM impl on top of OM will be implemented soon so that
WSS4J will work fine with AXIOM.
