[jira] Commented: (JS2-1057) Prototype New Customization and Spaces features

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JS2-1057?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=12778995#action_12778995 ]

Woonsan Ko commented on JS2-1057:
---------------------------------

I think we need to improve toolbox in the following areas:
* portlets info retrieval with Ajax calls when user selects a category from a drop down list. Don't preload all portlets.
  (YUI3 is preferable because JS2 layout is being rewritten with YUI3.)
* Remembering tabs.
* Widgets tab need to provide some generic web2 widget components such as google gadget or netvibes widgets.
  (Possibly, we could implement a service leveraing Apache Wookie...)
* New Space, Space Maintenance -- TBD

> Putting together a prototype for new customization and spaces features. Spaces are divide sites into logical areas of collaboration. Two new customization portlets will be added:
> * Jetspeed Toolbox -- a portlet selector and layout and theme customizer for quick one or two click access without leaving a page
> * Jetspeed Navigator -- a new way to navigate based on spaces and environments
> There are a few hacks going in here until we can get some new features in place for always putting a portlet on all pages and locking an are of the page
