Turbine artefacts not mirrored

Hi folks,

on behalf of the Turbine PMC I would like to ask why our turbine-2.3.3
and turbine-2.3.3-RC1 artifacts are obviously not eligible for
mirroring. We tried to fix all permissions but mirroring still doesn't
work. At least nothing appears on www.ibiblio.org. Are there any other
things wrong with the artifacts?

Bye, Thomas

Nothing sinister, just an oversight.

Basically the repo machine was out of disk and because of the heavy
traffic we didn't want to take it out to install the new disk without
some failover in place first. It was taking a while to get some
balancing and failover in place so we looked at ways to reduce the disk
usage as a stop-gap.

The M1 repo was actually being served via rewrite rules that pull from
the M2 data, yet the repo was sitting there taking up a huge amount of
disk. So it was decided to take out the M1 repo, which also stopped the
sync. When I made the switch to Nginx, I wasn't aware of the rewrite
rules and it was more than four days before anyone noticed that the m1
repo was broken. This lead us to believe that not many people were using
M1 and we certainly didn't expect that new artifacts were being deployed
via the M1 repo.

Rather than sync in the entire apache m1 repo for nothing, we should
handle the remaining m1 deploys on a case by case basis and try to get
them into the m2 format since that will serve both m2 users and m1 via
the rewrites. Several suggestions have been kicked around about how that
can be done. I'm not super familiar with the conversion process that was
in place so I won't comment on the actual mechanics.

I have synchronized turbine group by hand now, please take a look to
se if everything is correct

The discussion is in the Maven PMC private list, so I wouldn't like to
give details on why/how the sync stopped, hoping that the people
involved comment here in the future.

I'm sorry to be a pain but could someone please tell us how we get our
artifacts into a public repository?

Yes, we are using maven 1 to build, at least for this release. M2-Build
is still on our schedule.

A one-time sync would be most helpful at this point in time. Note that I
found a fair number of files that have been changed in the last 60 days
in the m1-repo on people.a.o. So this might be of interest for others,
too. Thanks in advance.

AFAIK it was stopped due to performance/bandwidth problems in central
that I believe have been solved since then (it wasn't me who disabled
it)

I'll let somebody else to jump in on whether it can be re-enabled and
yes you are right, it should have been discussed here and in
repo-maintainers@maven.apache.org

I'd not call Turbine a huge project but in the first place my question
was about the artifacts not being synced from the maven-1-repo at
people.a.o/.../m1-ibiblio-rsync-repository, not so much about the
m1/m2-transfer. When did you stop performing that sync and how were we
supposed to know?

And yes, please, we need that sync.
