   @RussellSpitzer @jackye1995 and @szehon-ho You may be interested in this since I think you've run into issues with the FileIO implementation not reporting metrics back through Spark/Trino/Flink.  This is still work-in-progress and i just implemented to the read path to get feedback on this as an approach, but I was able to verify that the read/write metrics do appear in the Spark UI.
