I need HELP recovering a DEAD repository

I was using 1.0.0-1 and upgraded this morning to
1.0.1-1 on my RH9 machine, simply by installing the
new rpms. then, there were problems using the
repository. I tried to run svnadmin 'recover, dump,
and verify' but it just hangs. I've tried reverting
back to 1.0.0-1 and it also hangs.

I have no idea if it is doing something or just
hanging. The repos is 8.5Gigs, but only a meg or so
has changed recently. I've let svnadmin run for up to
5 hrs, is this reasonable? does anybody know how long
svnadmin might be expected to run, or if there is a
way to get more output from it (eg verbosity)?
Usually, it finishes in about 5secs with this repos.

The svnadmin process is taking about 97% of the
processor, which means its not really accessing the
disk, its just spinning or something. On dump, the
output file is never even created.

There are critical files on this now that need to be
recovered. Are there any recovery tricks that I am
missing besides "svnadmin recover"?

Thanks!
kamin.

ps: is it just my firefox install or can the users
mailing list only be searched from prior to 6 months
ago on the website?
