Berkley link pb
Hello all,
I'm trying to compil subversion 1.0.4 after compil &
installed apache. Here is command line for apachae :
CPPFLAGS=-I/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.2/include/
LDFLAGS=-L/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.2/lib/ ./configure
--enable-ssl --enable-http --enable-dav
--enable-dav-fs --enable-vhost-alias --enable-so
--with-ldap --enable-ldap --enable-auth-ldap
All is working well, and apache is running quite well.
So, i start the configure of subversion, but i have
the problem with BerkleydB :
CPPFLAGS=-I/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.2/include/
LDFLAGS=-L/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.2/lib/ ./configure
--with-apxs=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs
config.status: svn_private_config.h is unchanged
configure: WARNING: we have configured for a
client-only build
The Subversion filesystem library, part of the server,
requires
Berkeley DB version 4.0.14 or newer, which you don't
seem to have
installed and linked to APR-UTIL. ...
I really don't know why Berkley DB is not linked with
ARP-UTIL. Did i miss something? Is it related in some
document? (Manual, FAQ...)
Thanks for your help.

No, that's for the compile-time linker.

Not that I knew of. However, at least on my system 'make install' emits a
warning that it can't finish the installation itself and it needs a hand to
complete the installation, so that is not the wrong way.
FYI: on my Debian system that is either (systemwide) to add an entry to
/etc/ld.so.conf or (on a per user base) to add the library path to
$LD_LIBRARY_PATH, IIRC. What to do exactly depends on your particular
operating system tough so I can't help you without knowing more.

Isn't it did by LDFLAGS declaration?

Is there another way to install it than the one
describe on the document provided by the sources?
(../dist/configure && make && make install)

Right so, but these vars aren't all you need. In particular, you need to tell
the runtime linker where to find the BDB libs (How to do that depends on your
system) and (I think not strictly necessary for SVN) to add the binaries to
your $PATH.
Note: this has nothing to do with SVN itself, it just means that your BDB
installation is not yet complete.
