I have to agree with Eric...I'd like to see something a little more lively, though I do like the node/ring aspect of Makram's design.  Possibly an interplay of a more saturated blue and another color (orange? red? yellow?) with one bright "node" and then two less saturated "nodes" of that color, one in each "ring" ??  Just an idea.

Come to think of it...making the nodes more jigsaw-like pieces or shard-like pieces might be a more accurate representation of Cassandra ;)
