SSL & Timeouts

Hi,
using Apache 1.3.11 + mod_jserv + Tomcat 3.0 + mod_ssl
i'd like to make secured connections handled by the web server my 
server 's running (port numbers : 80 & 443), the SSL engine is on ( 
log seems OK ) but all requests die in timeout.

Any clue welcomed.
