Is the entire "Portal" idea patented?
Hi, there,
I know this is not directly related to Pluto - but
please bear with me ... I was just curious and
searched to see if there are any Portal-related
patents. And I found this patent issued in 2001
(Patent No. 6832263) -
<a
href="http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&p=1&u=/netahtml/search-bool.html&r=2&f=G&l=50&co1=AND&d=ptxt&s1=portal.ABST.&OS=ABST/portal&RS=ABST/portal">
"Method and apparatus for implementing a dynamically
updated portal page in an enterprise-wide computer
system"</a>
(http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&p=1&u=/netahtml/search-bool.html&r=2&f=G&l=50&co1=AND&d=ptxt&s1=portal.ABST.&OS=ABST/portal&RS=ABST/portal)
Just wondered if anyone knew this patent before. I am
not an expert to make good judgement on this patent -
My first feeling is that the "Portal" is not that free
any more ... hope I am wrong. Any inputs?
Regards,
Joe
