[commit] text selection fix (?), but Uh-oh...

Hi:

I have a fix for text selection in filterRegions.svg,
and other spots where it was failing.  Very simple
mistakes were responsible, I'm pretty sure that my corrections
(to my own code) were appropriate.

However there is an issue... I have done a clean compile from the
same sources on both Solaris and linux, and the new build fixes the 
bug on linux, but not Solaris :-(

(It does not seem to cause regressions, but 
 text selection in filterRegions.svg still does not work
 on Solaris.  Don't know about Win32....)
