New contributor, Jira KAFKA-6616

Hi,

I'm new to contributing and I want to start working on this issue.
I see it's not being worked by anybody, so if someone can assign it to
me or may be give me rights to assign it to myself.
My Jira username is vpopov89.

yourself.
