Make your voice heard! Tapestry 4.1 "wish list"

I've started a new wiki page for anyone that has a list of nagging
annoyances/features they'd like to see fixed/added to Tapestry.
http://wiki.apache.org/tapestry/Tapestry41WishList

My intention is that after the initial official release of 4.1 in the next
couple of weeks is done I would like to focus my development effforts on
any/all things that we think would improve Tapestry. I've started my own
tiny list on the wiki page, but due to coding habits (and the large jira
issue list ) I may very easily skip over things in Tapestry that I've
already gotten used to but forgotten were hard when first starting out.

So, this is your big chance to make things happen! We can't promise that any
particular wish will be do-able in a timely fashion, but a lot of good
focused effort will go into whatever you would like to see most. (we all
know how some features take 10 minutes to implement while others may take 10
days or even weeks...)

I don't know what the best means would be for determining "most important",
but maybe JIRA votes after this list has been created can clear that up.

One of the things I would like to see is an easy way to build dynamic
determination of doctype+mimetype+charset either as part of @Shell or when
setting up the Markup writer for the page.

I already have functionality that does this ported over from Tapestry3 which
uses cached UserAgent capability queries to wurfl and a database, but I am
not quite happy with the way I have grafted it on to Tapestry.

I saw the contribution point "tapestry.markup.MarkupFilters", but I'm not
sure if that is sufficient to achieve what I want.

Can anyone tell me more about this area and how MarkupWriter is created ?

I've added 2 entries. Maybe a way to vote/prioritise the propostion would be
useful.

Whatever, thanks for allowing us to speak our mind !

I think, judging by the fact that I wasn't logged in when I made my
smarmy remark and that when I *do* log in I see an edit link that,
yes, you need to be logged in.

The page seems to be immutable. My first wish is that we be allowed
to update the wishlist!

Hello Henri, everybody

I've read your list and I'd subscribe to your opinion on the following
issues (from a newbie's perspective):

* Better Documentation
  Yes, please! That would include hivedoc too.

* Rename the template page from *.page to *.xml or *.page.xml
  or perhaps to *.spec.xml

* Facilitate the authentification issue
  IMO a VERY important issue

* On error pages for developers and for users
  What a pity! I thought Tapestry had this config option.

* Improve @PropertySelection
  A couple of days ago I had some very hard time taming this component. Not
sure if it's because of the component's current design or because of the
insufficient documentation.

* Make switching between HTTP & HTTPS easier

Regards,

I added my two cents there and willing to contribute... Is anyone else
annoyed with @PropertySelection or is it just me?
