On Version 4.1.1 with Windows 7, 

AutoCorrect only capitalizes lower case i's in spreadsheets. But when one wants
to undo that autocorrect of a single i, it is treated as an insert for each
individual character.

With the Writer (word docs), AutoCorrect is working properly.
