Both linkmap.pdf and wholesite.pdf work fine in current 0.9-dev trunk. Don't forget that there was a fix recently in trunk for "wholesite". These issues should be discussed separately to this "graphics too big" issue.

This now breaks our trunk, as shown by today's forrestbot

OK, a is now link and the document validates in principle.
However with Johannes Testproject it still generates 6
error. Some of which are link without href (not legal) one
is an ulo without content.
I guess that stylesheet will need some further cleaning.

just to get back wholesite pdf working it is not addressing linkmap.xml.
Linkmap.xml is declared as
<!DOCTYPE document PUBLIC "-//APACHE//DTD Documentation V1.2//EN"
"http://forrest.apache.org/dtd/document-v12.dtd">
and you are right that <a> is not supported by v12.
Why not updating lm:transform.linkmap.document to transform <a to <link?

Nevertheless Forrest generates invalid xml here and this
should be adressed, shouldn't it?

I'll try to find that on the list and see if that was after
I created the branch. If so I'll fix that in the branch to.
