Here attaches the patch. The developer can build the Chukwa project against hbase-trunk version by adding "-Dhbase.profile=0.96" in maven command.
And it also solves the hicc issue for both 0.94 and 0.96.

This issue may not be caused by hbase. Some compling error happens in the current hicc trunk code. For example, in index.jsp file

I am not so familiar with maven. according to my understanding, since the jar files are changed a lot after 0.96 version, I have created a *profile* for 0.96 here. I just want to do sth. like

Yes. I have run the test over the latest trunk version. I found the possible problem is that tomcat's groupId. When I was running with X in the maven command, I still find the jasper jars included. The debug info of the maven shows that groupId as *tomcat* instead of *org.apache.tomcat*. That is why those jasper jars are still there. After changing that tomcat groupId, it works for me now, even for hbase-trunk.
