[jira] [Created] (LUCENE-8471) Expose the number of bytes currently being flushed in IndexWriter

Alan Woodward created LUCENE-8471:
-------------------------------------

Summary: Expose the number of bytes currently being flushed in IndexWriter
                 Key: LUCENE-8471
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LUCENE-8471
             Project: Lucene - Core
          Issue Type: New Feature
            Reporter: Alan Woodward
         Attachments: LUCENE-8471.patch

This is already available via the DocumentWriter and flush control.  Making it public on IndexWriter would allow for better memory accounting when using IndexWriter#flushNextBuffer.
