[jira] [Commented] (LEGAL-503) Licenses for Beam distributed containers

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LEGAL-503?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=17007794#comment-17007794 ]

Ahmet Altay commented on LEGAL-503:
-----------------------------------

Thank you for the responses. One follow up question: For dependencies that are installed into the container (not Cat-X, and not brought by a FROM statement), is there a suggested list of things to do to be compliant? Presumably, binaries need to include all related license and notice files.

For the benefit of other project, it would be helpful to include this information in a documentation.

For the purposes of Beam, I believe our questions are answered. I will share this with the PMC.

> Asking on behalf of Beam PMC:
>
> In its last (2.16) release Beam added a new type of release artifact and released containers to dockerhub [1].
>
> Questions:
> - Would this change requires additional changes to the release process? Containers have pre-installed dependencies, they might need to include licenses, notices, etc. as well.
> - Are there potential blockers? Containers are based on other containers available on dockerhub (as in pull from other Linux based distributions).
>
> You can find additional context on Beam's private list: [https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/9cd1b80a7550172a352372e6414e6df62f605055da41b41d2b228dbc%40%3Cprivate.beam.apache.org%3E]
>
> Thank you for your help.

> (Previously directed this question [to legal-private@apache.org|mailto:to%C2%A0legal-private@apache.org] but did not get a response. I hope this did not result in any duplication of work.)
