VM management

Is it permissible to manage VM's using XenCenter

while Cloud-Management is running?

It seems obtuse to do it this way.

And the advantage is?

That is exactly what he meant. You can add the xenserver tools iso to
cloudstack (in the templates tab) and attach it to the running VMs you
already have running just like you would from XenCenter.

Xenserver tools and VMware tools are available automatically. When one goes
to attach an iso it should be available as an option without having to add
it manually.

OK, thanks Nikita.

How do I configure/troubleshoot the router.

other things like stop/start/destroy/etc you better do via CS UI

RE: VM management

Posted by Warren Nicholson <wa...@nfinausa.com>.
Not what I meant at all.

I'm not talking about OS ISO URL download
Image you create the instance from.

I talking about xenserver iso tools for optimizing
Virtualization on the OS after it becomes a running
VM, and before you make it a template. This needs to
be mounted and installed from the DVD in the console
of the newly created VM. This optimizes the VM to run
under Xenserver.

As I understand it, OS's typically need their drivers updated to
Optimize them for virtualization, since they are not running on
bare metal. Xencenter will highlight each VM created flagging
it is not optimized for virtualization, and give you a hotlink that
takes you directly to console with the DVD with the iso tools
selected to apply them.

This is all per the Xenserver Administration course offered by Citrix.....

Reboot it.
Apply Xen iso tools
