Space in Namespaces.XML_INSTANCE

Does anyone know why there is a space in the namespace defined by
Namespaces.XML_INSTANCE after the "w3."?

    public static final String XML_INSTANCE = "http://www.w3.
org/2001/XMLSchema-instance";


It seems to have been deliberately committed. See
