[jira] [Commented] (REEF-504) Clean up Serializable in Vortex

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/REEF-504?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=15229561#comment-15229561 ]

John Yang commented on REEF-504:
--------------------------------

PR: https://github.com/apache/reef/pull/931

[~yunseong] and I concluded that it'd be better to use one serializer, rather than many(avro for internal protocol, codec for user code, kryo for user codec implementation) and do ser/des in one place

> We should avoid Serializable in Vortex user api as much as possible
> * Serializable is slow
> * Serializable restricts user code
> * We should avoid redundant serialization/sending of same classes.
