[DISCUSSION] Hadoop Karaf support

Hi folks,

Maybe some of you remember the discussion about OSGi support some months
ago.

In order to move forward without impacting Hadoop core itself, I worked
on a Hadoop Karaf support.

I created a Jira to track changes:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-9706

I also started a serie of articles to explain what we can do with Hadoop
Karaf and how to install/use it. I published the first article this morning:
http://blog.nanthrax.net/2013/07/apache-hadoop-and-karaf-article-1-karaf-as-hdfs-client/

All comments are welcome !

Thanks all,
Regards
JB

thanks -I've commented on it briefly.

Could you print the blog post to PDF and attach it too -it ensures that it
will stay with the JIRA forever

Re: [DISCUSSION] Hadoop Karaf support

Hi all,

Let me update a bit the thread about OSGi and Karaf support in Hadoop.

Here's what I have now:
1/ hadoop 2.x client is available as OSGi service in Karaf (features)
with associated commands
2/ hdfs and yarn/mapreduce (2.x) are also OSGi compliant (with services
and commands)

I will submit a patch in HADOOP-9706 Jira.

I just wanted to be sure that there is adoption and interest about OSGi
support in Hadoop.
Please, let me know.

Thanks,
Regards
JB
