This is the sixth candidate to release Apache Stanbol 0.9.0-incubating.

we should cut this RC6 and go for an RC7 that does not include any
binary deps and instead uses a separate -deps package for them.

Ok, I see. IMO the svn tag should closely match the release archive -
as you say there will usually be minor differences but in this case
there's quite a lot of stuff in the svn tag that's not being released.
Let's rediscuss this as part of the release branch vs. trunk
discussion - I think that needs some clarifications.

thanks for checking. The difference is on purpose because the release
archive is a subset of the sources available in SVN. Now I understand
that the tag in SVN and the sources of the release package should
exactly match. But there will always be differences as some files are
only generated for the release package and are not checked into SVN.
I have written an archiver to only include the releaseable files and
not everything from SVN. If we want to match releases against SVN,
this process will not work. Then we have to reorganize our SVN and
have all the releaseable stuff in one single folder that can be
zipped. Everything else must be somewhere else.
Another way to do it right is to only release on a per JAR basis and
not to produce big source releases like I am trying it now.
What should we do? What do we want?
IMHO we should go and cleanup our SVN infrastructure. Maybe we should
add a new top level folder "stanbol" that will contain the releasable
stack. All other things like demos, infrastructure stuff, outdated
contributions is then automatically excluded.
For the existing release branch I will go and remove everything that
does not belong to the release as Bertrand suggested.

folder for example is present in svn but not in the release archive,

The felix guidelines I link too suggest to do this before the vote. And I
think the staging repo is only of use during the vote.
Instead of mvn release:rollback if the vote fails one need to revert the
changes in SVN, but that's what the tags are for.

Hi Reto,
I may be wrong but I think that needs to be done after the vote has passed
(at least I remember I did like that when I managed a release in the past)
since if the vote doesn't pass you can always perform a mvn
release:rollback and avoid the non released artifacts being on nexus.
But since it was a while ago I may be wrong on that.

I'm wondering why this release isn't in nexus, did something went wrong
running
mvn release:perform
As describe on http://felix.apache.org/site/release-management-nexus.html?
Being able to close the staging repo guarantees that it can successfully be
promoted to central once the vote is accepted.

+1, here's what I checked:
TODO svn tag?
Signatures and digests match.
KEYS file is at http://www.apache.org/dist/incubator/stanbol/KEYS
Contents of the tar.gz and zip files are identical, and match the
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/stanbol/tags/0.9.0-incubating/
tag at revision 1326617.
Build is successful, also with -Prat profile.
The build downloads some non-AL OpenNLP files, and correctly warns about that.
The jars mentioned in STANBOL-265 and STANBOL-585 are present in
binary form in the archive, they should go away before the next
release.

Here is the list of stuff i checked for this RC
* build ... ok
* RAT ... ok
* tests for the stable launcher ... ok
* tests for the full launcher ... ok
* tests for the full-war launcher deployed on Tomcat ... ok
* DEPENDENCIES-BY-LICENSE still mentions not Apache compatible GPL and
LGPL licenses of dual licensed dependencies. However all such licenses
are also distributed with an Apache compatible one ... ok
* LICENSE file (only including the licenses of stuff distributed with
the source release, not dependencies) ... ok
In summary a big
+1

It is used to obtain related keywords from Wordnet for the original
query term in featured search of Contenthub. But, its license issue has
been solved in STANBOL-445 and in STANBOL-550 Bertrand commented that it
was an Apache like one.

I am ok to include the owl-api jar in the source release (while
waiting for upstream to push it on maven central) as other apache
projects seem to do so too.
However there is also this jar:

I woud like to remind you that we have an open vote for the RC6 here.
Please, review the release so that we can proceed and get a release
ready to be voted for on the incubator mailing list.
I still do not know if it will be problem that we have included the
OWL-API JAR in the source release. If this is a blocker, we have to
provide a -deps package along with the source release that contains
the OWL-API JAR. IMO we should not wait for the OWL-API people to
publish their work on central as this would cost additional time.
